We had a really great Book club last Thursday attempting Mahler; thanks to all who took part. There’s so much going on over the next 2 months we’d love you to get involved with, so there are ‘dates for your diary’ below. Enrolment for events in April will be out next week.

We had a really great concert on Saturday night. Congratulations to all the performers and thank you to those who supported. Our next Concert Party will be on the 1st May – so do email if you want a slot! Thanks also to everyone who completed the questionnaire; the trustees are really pleased with how many people took the time to complete it and are busy looking at all the results.

I hope you’ve had a lovely ‘half-term’ break – although I’m not sure we know how different that is these days! In the next two weeks, we have 3 amazing events for you to get involved with, I hope to see you there. On that, a quick note from Andy Jackson below:

Back here at Cobweb HQ (a virtual office somewhere between mine and Lorna’s laptops), it’s always lovely to hear from you about how you’re getting on with our online programme. Here are a couple of recent comments:

“Thinking about the benefits of all these Zoom sessions: yes, it isn’t the same as playing together for real, but there is joy in the casualness, in being able to eat supper and then sit down for an hour to enjoy some music, talking about it and playing it, and meeting like-minded people. There are benefits in smashing through something that you haven’t spent hours/weeks practising, just getting the feel of the piece, not quite sight reading but not properly prepared; and having time to talk about the music which we don’t do when we turn up to play in person. I’m enjoying all this, thank you for your inventiveness, and you must have called in a great many favours with all the lovely people we have joined in with or chatted with”.

“I have so much enjoyed the concerts of Alice and the Taliesin Trio and equally Fennella and Daniel Grimshaw. You know, life under lockdown has become very drab. And sudden exposure to the beauty of classical music, so professionally played, is magic, so intense!”

Please keep them coming so that we know whether we’re getting things right or not.
Andy

We’ve had two acts come forward to perform in the virtual concert on the 6th March, so there’s plenty of space for you if you’re still thinking about it! We’d love to hear from you.

There’s lots going on in the next few weeks. In the meantime, it would be great to see you at one or more of these events.

We had an inspiring discussion with Amy Yule on Monday night. Thank you to all of you who took part. Unfortunately, Saturday’s Virtual Concert event is being cancelled due to a lack of performers. Our next concert will be on Saturday 6th March, so please enrol ASAP if you’d like to perform so we can build a great programme.
