Dear all,
Congratulations to all those involved in the concert over in Whitehaven, and a special thanks to Peter Wood for getting the group together so well and for Richard for being me on the day! Well done to Michael who played the solo too!

Preston Park Concert – POSTPONED
I regret to inform you that the venue have double booked us for the 21st May! Sadly this means we have had to postpone the concert to later in the Summer term. We are working hard to finalise a new date for this concert, but please remove the 21st May out of your diaries and I’ll be in touch to announce the new date asap.
Study Day: Brahms Symphony No.1 with Chris Griffiths
Saturday 30th April
11am – 4pm
Ludworth Community Centre, 2 North View, Ludworth, Durham, DH6 1NF

Don’t miss this second chance to get to grips with Brahams Symphony No.1 with Royal Northern Sinfonia’s Chris Griffiths. We’ve got a good sized orchestra already for this, but it’d be lovely for Chris to work with as many of you as possible. Please do enrol soon so we can plan for how much music to bring. As part of the day we will enjoy a shared lunch so please do contribute if you wish.
Members £10
Non Members £13
Enrolment form can be found here.
A Day of Concertos, Sunday 22nd May, 11-5pm, Haxby Memorial Hall, York
A note from Andy about the concerto day:
There’s been an enthusiastic response to this idea and we now have an enticing programme for the day ranging (in size of orchestra) from Vivaldi through Mozart, Devienne and Haydn to Beethoven and Dvorak.
So we now need an orchestra to accompany our wonderful soloists. PLEASE let Lorna know if you will be there so that we can make sure there are enough parts for everybody (you can imagine that this is a complicated affair with so many pieces being played).
Whilst on the subject of parts: I’m afraid it’s not possible to arrange for transposed parts for all the pieces, so the day will be organised with all the works which use clarinets, trumpets, trombones and timpani concentrated in the afternoon session. Players of those instruments would, of course, be welcome for the whole day and could join in by reading from concert pitch parts, or playing a different instrument (you could borrow one from the instrument bank), or sitting and listening. In any event I hope you’ll come along at 1 pm to enjoy the shared lunch.
I’ll publish a full programme for the day once I have just a few more details and hope to see lots of you there supporting your friends and colleagues.
One more thing – I mentioned in an earlier posting that this was going to be a “Pay-what-you-think-it’s-worth” event, so please look at, and respond to, Lorna’s note about how to sign up and contribute financially.

More info about this event can be found on the enrolment form here.
That’s all for this week, I look forward to receiving your enrolments!
Best wishes,
Event Co-ordinator, Cobweb Orchestra
