Cobweb News 19: 28.06.14

Dear all,
Despite the last minute change of venue last week, Andy and around 30 players enjoyed a day playing Schubert’s Symphony No. 9. It’s only happened once in 20 years that a venue has double booked, but we’re very grateful to St. Aidan’s Church in Billingham for their help in sorting the situation! A few quotes from the day: “a most amazing day” “a great musical experience, but also very educational.” “a Great Day,all those notes for just £10.-00”. Richard Best gave this great analysis on the Facebook page:
‘Another wonderful day with Cobwebs orchestra : Schubert’s 9th Symphony with Andy Jackson conducting was informative ,challenging, enjoyable and exhausting. Our audience of 2 enjoyed our play through. Thanks to Andy for encouraging and inspiring us yet again and to all who helped to make the day such a success.’
The Cobweb Chamber Orchestra are currently on their residential this weekend, I hope you’re all having a great time!

Peter Wood leads us through this epic and ever-popular symphony written in early 20th Century. We’d love a full orchestra for this one, as it is such a big work, so will welcome anyone and everyone who’s up for the challenge! As part of the day we will enjoy a shared lunch.
I can confirm that this day will be 11-4.30pm as normal. Peter has also asked me to let you all know that transposed parts are available on the day so if this helps makes your decision about signing up – please do! Enrolment form is available on the event webpage. We’ve also been sent this link for a recent Radio 4 program about the original score for Rachmaninov 2 which was sold at Sothebys last month for £1.2m!
