Cobweb News 20 – 2013

Dear All,
We had a brilliant time at the Family Teatime Concert in Billingham on Saturday. There was an appreciative and enthusiastic audience who were more than willing to play kazoos, shake balloons, pop bubble wrap . . . Well done to the Teesside group and Clare for putting on such a good and enjoyable show.
Coming up . . .
Saturday 1st June – Schumann Symphony No. 2 study day with Chris Griffiths
11.00am – 4.00pm Haxby, York

We’ve a great orchestra for this but just a couple of gaps. We only have 1 flute and 1 trombone at the moment and more violins would be much appreciated. But if you fancy coming to it, no matter what you play, you’ll be very welcome. Schumann can take a large orchestra!
More details are on the website www.cobweborchestra.org.uk. Please do send me an email if you can make it (and particularly if you’d like the scrumptious fund-raising lunch for just £5.00) events@cobweborchestra.org.uk
Saturday 8th June – Ravenstonedale Prom, rehearsal 2.00 – 6.00pm, concert 7.30pm
St. Oswald’s Church, Ravenstonedale, Cumbria CA17 4NG

The orchestra for the 5th Ravenstonedale Prom is nearly full. We’re short of 1 clarinet and 2 horns.
For more details please see the event webpage
www.cobweborchestra.org.uk/events/event.php?id=183.
Don’t forget to sign up for the other TWO proms, all of which have space for all instruments (except flutes and oboes at Brougham Hall).
News about Bishop Auckland Prom . . .
Sadly, due to logistical and financial reasons, the Bishop Auckland Prom has been cancelled by the organisers from the Town Council. Hopefully it will be back on again next summer in a more suitable venue than a sports hall! If you have already signed up and paid for Bishop Auckland Prom I will be in touch soon to sort out a refund.
Finally . . .
Did you know that The Cobweb Orchestra is on Twitter?
If you haven’t already got a Twitter account, do create one and become a follower of The Cobweb Orchestra.
That’s all for this week. I hope to see many of you on Saturday in Haxby and then on Tuesday at Helen’s funeral at Bywell and her “Last Big Gig” at Horsley.
Sue
