Cobweb News 20: 28.09.15

Dear all,
Thanks to all those who attended the AGM yesterday, it was a great day and I’ve had some lovely feedback from newer members feeling most welcomed!
As you may be aware, I’ve been having some problems with my email and not all of you have been receiving recent news bulletins. I’ve now decided to start using a reliable online program for my regular emails, which will hopefully solve the problem. I have also changed/updated my email address to: events.cobwebs@gmail.com. If possible, please can you start using this one (replying to this email will automatically go there) but I’m not cutting off the other email addresses (yes there are two) – these will simply be redirected to my new one. So it’s not something you need to worry about, but just to be aware of.
With these technical problems in mind, we are a bit behind in enrolling for this terms events, therefore – please enrol as quickly as possible so we can catch up. There’s quite a few to enrol for, so please do read down to the bottom of the email!
I’ll repeat below what I’ve said in my last bulletin so for any of you that didn’t receive it, you can see what I posted, apologies to those of you who have seen it!
The players at the Honister Slate Mine yesterday really have done a fantastic job, congratulations to all those involved. If you’d like to catch a glimpse of them starring on BBC Cumbria, you can see it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-34314965 Do check out the facebook group or twitter for more great photo and media coverage.
(You can now click instantly to our facebook/twitter/website but clicking on the icons at the bottoms of the email!)

As it is understood that the recent Cobwebs Residential Week in Tuscany will be the last to be organised by Andrew and Andy we decided to devote some effort to producing a lasting memory. As a result I have compiled a record on DVD and audio CD.
DVD 1 contains some interesting interviews recording memories of Tuscany residentials. Rye Mattick did a wonderful job as chief interviewer (she could easily apply for a job to replace Fiona Bruce!) talking to Andy & Andrew, Antje Roser, and especially Giulia together with a few other shorter interviews. The DVD also contains: a ‘Sports Report’ recording highlights of the table tennis tournament, particularly a very entertaining first round match in which Andy defeated the favourite Heather!; musical highlights from the Wednesday night Concert Party and the al fresco ‘Midnight Choir’; a food and wine section; and other bits of the general coming and goings.
DVD 2 has highlights from the two formal concerts in San Gimignano and Gambassi
The Audio CD has 79 minutes of concert performances – an amalgam of both formal concerts including all the pieces played over the two nights.
I am offering complete sets to any Cobweb member who would like one for the price of a minimum £10 donation to Cobwebs funds (payable via direct transfer to the Cobwebs Account or via your usual channels – tagged as TuscanDVD please)
If you would like one, please let me know asap, preferable by Thursday 24th Sept, letting me know which group(s) you normally attend, or suggesting another means of getting them to you.
