Cobweb News 22 – 2013

Dear All,
Our prom season got off to a superb start with the Ravenstonedale Prom on Saturday. We had an audience of about 80 who donated so generously to the tune of £428.40 of which £250 can be gift-aided. This grand amount will be shared equally between St. Oswald’s Church and The Cobweb Orchestra.
Special thanks to Richard Best and David Morris, who worked tirelessly to organise this event and publicise the concert. Thanks also to our conductor Peter Crompton who did a grand job and to our two wonderful soloists, Joy Hall (Telemann Viola Concerto) and Mary Hitch (various songs). And lastly thanks to all our players for making Ravenstonedale Prom such a success.
Our next prom is Brougham Hall . . .
Sunday 23rd June – Brougham Hall Midsummer Prom
Brougham Hall (grounds), Penrith, Cumbria CA10 2DE
Rehearsal: 1.30 – 5.30pm, Concert: 7.00pm

We’ve a great orchestra taking shape for this prom and are now full in the woodwind section. We still need more strings, particularly violins and cellos, more horns and brass. The grounds of Brougham Hall are lovely and we’re very lucky to have been invited to perform there. We’ll have the marquee to protect us from the elements should anything dare to fall on us. Why not enrol for this event and come and have a great time.
For more details please see the event webpage
Finally a rather special performance for you to come to . . .
The Cabaret Ensemble are giving a concert with Bridie Jackson (whose band The Arbour will be on the main stage at Glastonbury this year) at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Sunday 16th June, 7.00pm.
Tickets (£8, concessions available) will be available on the door or can be obtained in advance from the box office – tel: 03000 269524
Do come along to the Town Hall for what will be a wonderful evening’s entertainment.
That’s all for this week.
