Cobweb News 25.4.18

I hope you’ve had a nice few weeks and are ready to get back into a great term of events we have lined up for you! I heard that Sedbergh was a fantastic success, thanks to Christine and everyone who helped out. I’ve tried to keep this weeks news short, so please do read it, and keep an eye on the website for further updates.

In this weeks Cobweb News

Sibelius Violin Concerto with Iona Brown
Cobweb Orchestra in Concert Tchaikovsky’s 6th Symphony “Pathetique” conducted by Andy Jackson

Sibelius Violin Concerto with Iona Brown
Saturday 28th April, 11-4pm – this Saturday!
Wylam Institute, Church Rd, Wylam, NE41 8AP

Our good friend Iona Brown will play Sibelius’s Violin Concerto at Wylam on Saturday 28th April. This is the only concerto that Sibelius wrote, and it is symphonic in scope, with the solo violin and all sections of the orchestra being equal voices – so we would love to have a full orchestra to accompany her and be the best experience for everyone involved. Iona is a fantastic violinist and is a member of Royal Northern Sinfonia. We’re delighted that she is playing with us again on another study day as she has been such a great support to us many times before. She really is fantastic to work with so don’t miss out!
There’s a lot of you signed up, it’s going to be a great event, but to make this day even better, we’re particularly in need of flute, bassoons, trombones, timps?? (Parts are available in bass clef for trombone)
As we’ve hired these parts in especially it’s vitally important I know you’re coming so I can make sure we have enough parts to go around!
As it is a full day event, we will enjoy a shared lunch, please do feel free to contribute.

That’s all this week, just a quick reminder though that we are playing in Middlesbrough Town Hall in just a few weeks time, we’d love it if we had some more upper strings?? Anyway, more on that next week. See lots of you on Saturday for what’s looking to be a great day.
