Cobweb News 3: 22.01.15

Dear all,
We had a really brilliant event last weekend in Dalston, with Richard Howarth and Iona Brown playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. The music sounded fantastic and Iona was very complimentary of the orchestra so we should give ourselves a pat on the back for that! She played amazingly and it was led under the expert guidance of Richard, whom I know many of you were happy to see again too.
Congratulations to everyone involved in tonight’s performance at Sage Gateshead with the Grade 1 a thon participants from RNS, it sounded fantastic and we managed to raise a bit of money for the appeal too! There are a few pictures attached for you.
**Important Info**
As most of you will know by now, we have had to CANCEL the event on Saturday at Dipton. This is due to the fact that the soloist had pulled out at the last minute, and we did not have a feasible orchestra to manage anything else. Many apologies if you had planned to come along, and please let anyone else know who may not get this email who you think might have been intending to come. I hope to see many of you at the Grieg the following weekend instead.

**Message from Elizabeth**
Thanks to all those generous people who have so far donated a prize to the forthcoming auction. We could do with a couple more prizes, if anyone has been waivering out there. For example, I have a string quartet, motorbike pillion ride, rail tickets and drawing up of a family tree. If you could e-mail your pledge to me by the end of January, that would be much appreciated. Virtual bidding will begin in February. Thanks, Elizabeth Beer (
That’s all for this week, have a great weekend and I will hopefully see you many of you on Saturday 31st for the Grieg Piano Concerto.
Best wishes,
