Cobweb News

Congratulations to those of you who played at Gibside at the weekend. One player described us as: “So much more creative than your conventional amateur orchestra!” Hope you’re having a lovely half term, and finding time to consider joining us in two weekends of amazing music working with some fantastic young professionals in our region. Playing such big works are always so much nicer with more people – so bring your friends and come along!

Cobweb Orchestra Study Day: Elgar Symphony No. 2 with Mark Edwards
Sunday 9th June, 10-5.30pm
Wylam Institute, Front Street, Wylam. NE42 5DQ

Members £12.50
Non Members £17

Back by popular demand! Join Mark Edwards in developing what we learnt in the first go at Elgar Symphony No.2 last year, or come along and discover what a fantastic work it is. We need a big orchestra to have another go at this one! This time, we’ll split the day up and run sectionals, so players can have a real chance to get to know the work in more depth and feel comfortable with it. Patrick Burnett from York will be joining Mark and leading a sectional, so it’s really great opportunity to get to grips with it in more detail. So many of you told us that you really enjoyed the day last time, so please do spread the word and encourage anyone to join us.  The day will be made up as follows:

10-12.30 pm – Morning sectionals
12.30 – 1.30 pm – Shared lunch
1.30-4 pm – Afternoon tutti rehearsal (with a break)
4.30-5.30 pm – Informal play through
