Cobweb News 37 – 2013

Our Schumann 4 study day with Chris Griffiths last Saturday was tremendous – probably one of the best, if all the feedback I’ve had is anything to go by. Everyone worked really hard and, despite missing some instruments, the play through at the end of the day was fantastic.
Coming up . . .
Sunday 27th October – Tchaikovsky 6 study day with Richard Howarth
11am – 4.00pm
Dipton Community Centre

We’ve a good orchestra coming together for this event but as usual we can take lots more strings especially violas and double basses (of which we have none at the moment!). We are also short of bassoons, horns and trumpets but there is room for more wind in all sections. Some timps would also be good.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to have a go at a large, well known and much loved, orchestral work with a superb conductor. The enrolment form and more information is available on the event webpage
Sunday 3rd November – Dvorak Cello Concerto study day with Alice Jones and Andy Jackson
2.00 – 6.00pm
Wylam Village Institute

There is plenty of room in all sections for this study day. It will be such a treat to spend a whole afternoon working with Alice our soloist. Normally soloists appear on the concert day rehearsal only. Do enrol if you can make it. The enrolment form and more information is available on the event webpage
Saturday 9th November – Sibelius 2 study day with Jonathan Brigg
1.30 – 6.00pm (please note earlier start time)
Haxby Memorial Hall, Haxby, York

An event not to be missed. Don’t forget to put it in your diary and send in your enrolment form
Saturday 23rd November – Stravinsky Rite of Spring study day with Andy Jackson
