Cobweb News 44 – 11.12.13

Dear All,
Only 2 weeks to Christmas and there still seems to be loads going on though no more Cobweb events until the New Year. I hope you are all looking forward to seeing in 2014 with our “Month of Symphonies”. The enrolment form is attached along with a flier. Please do print a few out and advertise this great event.

Just a couple of things to mention this week . . .
Sunday 19th January 2014 – Composers & Arrangers/Guinea Pig Orchestra
2.00 – 6.00pm
Wylam Institute, NE41 8AP

Since September the C&A Group has been running an arranging course, led by Lizelle Kirby. As its project, the group has been preparing a “Cobweb” arrangement of J.S. Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 4 in D major. Bach’s original score is being adapted to incorporate the range of instruments expected in the Cobweb Orchestra. The arrangement is to be the basis of the next Study Day led by Anthony Sargent at Sage Gateshead on Saturday 8th February.
Before the study day we need to “test drive” our arrangement and to help with this we are appealing for volunteers to join us to form a Guinea Pig Orchestra at Wylam Institute on Sunday 19th January, 2-6pm. As usual, attendance for the GPO will be free. (C&A members will be asked to pay £5 each).
Please do enrol for this as soon as possible and become part of this exciting project.
Please see the event webpage for an enrolment form and further details

Sunday 20th – Sunday 27th July 2014 – Residential trip to Alora, Spain
Hola! This is a boarding call for all prospective musicians intending to travel to Alora with Cobweb Orchestravel on the metaphorical musical bus in July. Requests for boarding passes are a trifle slow in coming in and I remind all customers that once we get to 31st December, we shall have to make a judgement on the trip’s viability at that point and shall only be able to base it upon actual bookings. We have a reservation on the accommodation that will expire at the year-end, so it’s vital that, if you are intending to come, you complete your booking form and send it with a deposit cheque for £110 for each musical participant, to me, by the deadline date.
An information sheet about next year’s foreign trip and the booking form with all details is attached, as a PDF file.

That will do for this week as I’m sure you are all busy with Christmas parties, preparation etc.
