Cobweb News 5.12.18

I hope you’re all having a good week, it’s lovely to see your end of term concerts/sharing photos on Facebook.
We’re trying to streamline the way we do our enrolling processes, so for the New Year’s events there’s a trial of signing up using an online form, rather than a paper one. Please don’t feel you have to use the online sign up, you can still use the old method but if you feel able to give it try, I would welcome your feedback.

students half the above pricesJoin Peter Wood in the latest instalment of the Haydn Symphonies Project! He says:We are taking the 10th session of the Haydn Symphonies project to the Haxby Memorial Hall in York on Saturday 12th January 2019  (11.00 – 16.00) with a shared lunch.  We have now looked at 50 symphonies and the symphonies we will be looking at in York, all written between 1772 and 1774 will include the last of the  “Sturm und Drang” (“Storm and Stress’”)  symphonies, No. 45 (farewell), No. 46 and No. 51 together with symphonies No. 64 (tempora mutantus) and No. 57.  Haydn is now well established as the Musical Director at the Esterházy court. These symphonies are scored for strings, oboes and horns with bassoons supplementing the cellos and basses.  As usual flutes and clarinets are welcome to join us and oboe parts transposed for Bb clarinets will now be available.   This event is happening early in the New Year and with the Christmas and New Year holidays will soon be here so the usual enrolment form is attached which I would encourage you to return before Christmas.  I look forward to seeing you all in York in the New Year.
