Cobweb News

It was really very lovely to see people again last Sunday. We enjoyed a fantastic afternoon remembering how to play our instruments and everyone did great. Because the event was such a success, we are now planning several more in-person events in the not too far future – More information below. Before that, we have a really wonderful event with Joe Davies tomorrow – don’t miss it –  sign up before 5pm!

In this week’s Cobweb News:
TRIPLE FFF: The Music of Farrenc, Franck, and Fauré – A discussion with Joe Davies – 27th May
Live Event at St. Paul’s Centre, Spennymoor – 26th June

TRIPLE FFF: The Music of Farrenc, Franck, and Fauré
A discussion with Joe Davies

Thursday 27th May, 7pm
On Zoom, £8/10

Back by popular demand, Joe is bringing an exciting and intriguing discussion on French music tomorrow!

This is what Joe says:

A triple French spectacular as we listen to the glorious music of Louise Farrenc (1804-1875), César Franck (1822-1890), and Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). Why are French composers such good orchestrators? Why does French music go so quickly in and out of fashion? And what makes French music sound so… French?

**It turns out, you will want your instrument for the session! **
We’ll have the opportunity to play along with the Pavane by Faure. You can download your part from IMSLP – its very easy to find – only result under the ‘parts’ tab: https://imslp.org/wiki/Pavane,_Op.50_(Faur%C3%A9,_Gabriel)
