Cobweb News 8: 25.03.15

Dear all,
Well done to all those who participated in The Big Play on Sunday, I have heard it was a brilliant day, an awful lot of notes were tackled and everyone enjoyed themselves! Over £1000 was raised at the auction which is absolutely fantastic – well done to Elizabeth for organising! My thanks go to all those who helped out on the day, and Peter for collecting the money.

All accommodation places are now taken for the upcoming Sedbergh residential but anyone who wishes to be a day visitor is still more than welcome as the hall can cater for larger numbers. Please let Anita know on if you wish to join the residential for the day or need more information.
**Future events**
A number of new events for after Easter have now been added to the website. Do keep checking there to see what’s upcoming with Cobwebs. Enrolment forms will be available at the start of the Easter Holidays, but one event that has been finalised is below:
Sea Music with “The Chippy Orchestra”
Sunday 31st May
11-4pm with a fish and chips lunch
Shap Village Hall , Main Street , Shap , Penrith , Cumbria CA10 3NL
Come and join the Cobwebs “chippy” orchestra led by Peter Wood for a day playing sea related music with lunch from Shap’s award winning chippy.
A wide range of sea related repertoire will be available to play through during the day including works such as the Hebrides Overture, the Flying Dutchman, Scheherazade (Sinbad and the sea), Henry Wood Sea Songs, Pirates of the Caribbean, La Mer (Trenet), Sailing By and By the Sleepy Lagoon. This list is not exhaustive and if you have any ideas for easily obtained and sight readable “sea” music please e-mail your ideas to Peter Wood at
Nautical clothing can be worn for this event (but is not compulsory).
At Lunchtime pre-ordered meals (vegetarian options available) will be delivered from Shap’s award winning Chippy.
Georgina Perkins is a violinist with Tebay cobwebs and also joint owner of Shap Chippy and Smoky Jo’s.
As well as being one of only a very few fish and chip shops in Cumbria to hold a National Federation of Fish Friers Quality Award, Shap Chippy was also crowned Best Newcomer at the 2015 National Fish & Chip Awards in London earlier this year.
Shap is easy to find, just 10 miles south of Penrith and before you get to Tebay. From Penrith you can either take the A6, or you can take the M6 leaving at junction 39.
That’s all for now for this week, I will be in touch with more details of Summer events next week.
Best wishes,
