A few words from Sue and Jim about the Tchaikovsky event:

1. We are delighted to see that a fantastic orchestra has enrolled for the Tchaikovsky 6 study day and teatime concert in York on Saturday 16 June. Players are still welcome to sign up – on a work like this we can always do with more strings, but Andy would also especially welcome another trombone.

2. Parking is relatively limited at the venue so we suggest that people coming with large instruments or in minibuses/shared cars should get in touch (suehoggett@gmail.com) and we will reserve parking places for as many of you as we can. Alternatively, there is a free public car park at Morrison’s Supermarket, which is about 10 minutes walk from the Church.

3. If you are using SatNav, the postcode for the Church is YO24 3BX. If anyone needs any additional help regarding travel, for example how to get from the Station, please get in touch

4. Since this is a concert day, there will NOT be a ‘bring and share’ lunch so you should bring your own food. If needed, Acomb village is close by with shops, supermarkets and cafes. There is a kitchen with a fridge, and tea and coffee will be available for players. If anyone felt like making a cake, it might be nice to have some with a cup of tea in the break before the rehearsal, hopefully outside in the small garden if the weather is fine!

5. The Cobweb concert dress is black bottoms and a white top/shirt with a waistcoat and/or colourful scarf/tie.

6. Please bring your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues – and anyone else who would like to come – to the free concert. If you are coming from the North East or Cumbria, they could spend a lovely day looking around York and then come and join us at 5 pm for the concert. After 3pm, there will be additional parking in Acomb Library car park, which is just a few steps away from the Church.

Looking forward to seeing everyone for what promises to be a great day!

Cobweb Orchestra Musical Picnic

Rehearsal 12-4.
Audience to arrive with picnics from 4 pm
Performance 5-6.30 pm

As last year, we’ll be performing under the giant marquee, so come rain or shine we’ll host a musical picnic of largely music from Europe, featuring composers such as Bizet, Rossini, Verdi, Chabrier, Delibes, Edith Piaf. The audience are invited to bring food to eat either before the concert and enjoy an afternoon of music. The audience will be invited to pay what you think it’s worth.

That’s all for this week, I hope the concert goes well tomorrow, I’m sure you’ll all be great. Thanks to Sue and Jim for all their hard work on it.

Best wishes,
