Join Peter Wood in the next instalment of the Haydn Symphonies Project, which will this time take place in Newbiggin on Lune.

Peter says:

The 12th session of the Haydn Symphonies project will be held at Newbiggin on Lune village hall (near Tebay) on Saturday 20 July 2019 from 11.00 am until 4.00 pm. with a shared lunch.  We have now looked at 61 symphonies and in this session I am hoping to look at the following symphonies –  42, 52. 55 (The Schoolmaster), 66, 67 and 68.  These symphonies are scored for the usual strings, oboes and horns but from now on we also to see bassoons with independent parts as regular instruments in the orchestra so it would be great if some of our bassoon players could join us (the 13th session which will be held in October sees flutes become regular instruments in the orchestra!).  There are no trumpets or timps in these symphonies but as usual flutes and clarinets are welcome to join us to cover other parts and oboe parts transposed for Bb clarinets will be available.   The preparation of parts for this project is time consuming and it would be appreciated if enrolment forms could be returned as soon as possible so that I know how many parts I need to prepare and to give me time to fill any holes we may have in the orchestra.  I look forward to seeing you all at Newbiggin on Lune.
