Join Iona Brown (violin) and Andy Jackson in a day playing the Sibelius Violin Concerto. The day will run 11-4pm at Wylam Institute.

This is the only concerto that Sibelius wrote, and it is symphonic in scope, with the solo violin and all sections of the orchestra being equal voices – so we would love to have a full orchestra to accompany Iona and be the best experience for everyone involved.

The concerto is scored for solo violin, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, timpani and strings.

Iona is a fantastic violinist and is a member of Royal Northern Sinfonia. We’re delighted that she is playing with us again on another study day as she has been such a great support to us many times before. She really is fantastic to work with so don’t miss out!

As it is a full day event, we will enjoy a shared lunch, please do feel free to contribute.

Please don’t forget to bring a music stand.
