TRIPLE FFF: The Music of Farrenc, Franck, and Fauré

A discussion with Joe Davies

Back by popular demand, Joe is bringing an exciting and intriguing discussion on French music on the 27th May. This is what Joe says:

A triple French spectacular as we listen to the glorious music of Louise Farrenc (1804-1875), César Franck (1822-1890), and Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). Why are French composers such good orchestrators? Why does French music go so quickly in and out of fashion? And what makes French music sound so… French?

You’ll need your instruments as we’ll have the opportunity to play along with the Pavane by Faure. You can download your part from IMSLP – its very easy to find – only result under the ‘parts’ tab: https://imslp.org/wiki/Pavane,_Op.50_(Faur%C3%A9,_Gabriel)
