Performances

Our study days usually end with a ‘play through’ of a particular piece of music. These are free and open to anyone who would like to come and listen. Information can be found in the Events Diary. The Cobweb Orchestra also has off-shoot groups who give a variety of performances at various venues.

Elvaston Ensemble

Friday 14 December, 7pm
St Mary’s Church, Shincliffe, Durham. DH1 2ND.

The Elvaston Ensemble will be returning to Shincliffe following their successful wind quartet concert in June. This time they’ll be performing as a quintet, and will be giving a concert of classical and festive music.

The programme includes Haydn’s ‘Divertimento’ (St Anthony Chorale) and a selection from Liadov’s ‘Eight Russian Folksongs’, as well as Christmas favourites such as Tchaikovsky’s ‘Nutcracker Suite’, Delius’s Sleigh Ride (Winter Night) and Corelli’s ‘Christmas Concerto’.

Tickets are priced £10, which will include festive refreshments in the hall afterwards.

Proceeds will be shared between Ludworth Cobwebs and St Mary’s Church fabric fund.

The Elvaston Ensemble met through The Cobweb Orchestra, and are raising funds for the orchestra’s newest group at Ludworth, which is conducted by their clarinettist Tracy Reed.

The other players are Chrissie (flute), Anita (oboe), Rye (bassoon) and Clare (horn).

If you’re too busy with Christmas preparations and can’t make this one, there’ll be another chance to see them at Shincliffe next year on Friday 7 June.
