Upcoming events to watch out for

1) A CONCERTO WITHIN A SYMPHONY
There was a lot of positive feedback about this, so it will be going ahead in the Autumn when a date can be agreed with all those who have responded so far. We already have Mahler, Puccini, Rossini, Sibelius and Tchaikovsky and it will be a great day of playing for everyone. There’s still space for more soloists, so don’t be shy about coming forward with further suggestions.
2) THE SUMMER PROGRAMME – COBWEBS AL FRESCO

Let’s hope we’re in for some wonderful warm, windless weather in the next few months because because Cobwebs has been booked for a few open-air performances. Don’t worry too much, as there are sheltered options for all the venues, but wouldn’t it be lovely for our music to be heard across the sunny skies of South Shields, Newcastle and Derwent Valley?
Here are the dates and the venues:
Sunday 26 May afternoon. The Orangery at Gibside.
Thursday 20 June morning. Opening of the Tyne Pedestrian Tunnel.
Sunday 28 July afternoon. Musical Picnic at Summerhill. For the last 2 years, we managed to pick the one rainy day in otherwise perfect Summer. Surely we can’t be that unlucky 3 times running.
We’re also playing indoors in our more usual mix of study days and performances. Here’s the programme:
The next two installments of Peter Woods’ Haydn project on Sunday 28 April and Saturday 20 July.
Saturday 11 May 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Improvers’ day.
Sunday 2 June. Brass Day at Dalston.
Sunday 9 June. Elgar symphony conducted by Mark Edwards. Venue tbc.
Saturday 13 July. A concert at Shadforth Church.
Saturday 10 August. Sight reading session.
Saturday/Sunday 24/25 August. Non-residential.
More details and enrolment forms will be available soon.

I hope you find all that appealing and will look forward to seeing most of you on one or another of those
