Dipton

This is the longest established of the regional groups and players will attempt just about anything from the orchestral repertoire.

Less experienced players sit alongside old hands for a bit of friendly guidance.

Recent music has included Mendelssohn and Beethoven.

As well as the music, there’s also a lovely view to enjoy at Dipton!

“The Life and Times of South Medomsley Pit”

A grant from Banks helped us to cover a project to represent the history of the South Medomsley Pit in music.

A central part of the project was the commissioning of a new work by Andy Jackson, called ‘Absence’, dedicated to our late double bass player Bernard Haston. The Dipton group performed it for the first time at a concert on 11 June 2023.

The concert also consisted of some pieces performed by the Baroque Group.
