We finally had some great weather for our annual Summerhill Picnic last weekend. We did really well, remembering how to battle playing with pegs and tricky page turns, with a lovely welcoming audience. Thanks to Andy and the library team for their hard work.

At last, the ever-popular autumn residential weekend returns at the beautiful retreat of Emmaus Village, near Riding Mill, Northumberland. The weekend will have the usual mix of mostly full orchestral sessions with some ensemble sessions. As always there is the Saturday night, after-dinner entertainment which, who knows what we will do, we’ve had dancing, singing and playing spoons and other instruments in past years. Just in case you haven’t played enough during the day, we round Saturday night off (or get Sunday morning off to a grand start?) with the well-established ‘Symphony (or two) at Midnight’. We end the weekend with a full orchestral session, revisiting and performing some of the works we’ve looked at over the weekend.
Please download the information sheet, which includes contact details for any queries.
ACCOMMODATION is in 3 beautiful chalets each taking 11 people in en-suite rooms. The rooms have more than one bed so couples can share. Costs remain the same regardless of room sharing or not.
MEALS are provided by the centre and consist of lunch and dinner on Saturday, cooked breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Different diets can be catered for.
DAY VISITORS – if you don’t wish to stay at Emmaus Village you may attend as a day visitor. More information will be available in the following weeks. Please complete the Google Form ONLY if you intend on being a resident.
MUSIC will be provided for all the orchestral sessions. Please bring your own chamber music if you wish to play between sessions.
EXTRAS – Emmaus Village has its own bar which is reasonably priced, and the centre specifically
asks that you do not bring alcohol. Snacks are always very welcome for late Saturday night.
COST – £140 for the weekend (including all meals and accommodation). A £35.00 deposit is required if you wish to stay for the weekend as a resident.
