Cello day at Dalston
Due to a kind bequest from the husband of Pam, who used to play cello at the Dalston group, we are able to put on a rather unusual event which brings together several of Pam’s interests – working with young people, making things happen in Cumbria and playing the cello.
The excellent young cellist Neil Sild, who recently played the Elgar Cello concerto with us at Middlesbrough Town Hall will be performing the Haydn Cello Concerto, conducted by the ever popular Joe Davies.
The morning will be devoted to a workshop just for cellists, but, of course, we will need an orchestra for the concerto, so the afternoon and evening session will run just like a normal Cobweb study day followed by and informal performance.
As well as Rossini’s “William Tell” overture the cellists will be working on the following in the morning session:
“Hymnus” for 12 cellos by Julius Klengel and “Les prieres” for cello quartet by Luigi Forino
