The thriving York group is friendly and welcoming, and enjoys a variety of music, from Beatles to Beethoven, Sousa to Schubert, and other great works by Romantic composers such as Brahms, Dvorak, Schumann and Tchaikovsky. As well as the huge enjoyment we get from playing together, we enjoy socialising during tea breaks, recovering afterwards at a local pub, eating vast amounts of cake at end-of-term social events, and going out for the occasional meal! We have a very tolerant open-access policy, and there are no auditions and no weekly commitment. Whether you’re a seasoned player, a relative beginner who has little experience of orchestral playing, or you’ve been too busy to practise for years and have missed playing, come and join us; you would be made very welcome.
